There are a few Trance scales, however they are much the same. I recommend aiming for somnambulism every time and not bothering with the lighter states. Somnambulism is my level of choice, as most of the professional modes of therapy, start at this point. If you don’t know how to achieve it, check out my Elman induction post. Generally hypnotherapists in Britain, still use the progressive relaxation induction and remain in the lighter states with their clients, which is fine I guess for basic suggestion. From a little basic research among some British hypnotists, they remarkably appear to not know what somnambulism is. Either that or they fear it’s use. Naturally this isn’t everyone in the UK. I just feel those that shy from it are missing out on a lot of benefits for themselves professionally and their clients therapeutic results. I use this level to great effect; just learn how to deal with abreactions correctly and how not to plant false memories and your away. Naturally knowledge of therapeutic models would be helpful unless your into stage hypnosis.
